Well, the house looks like it is sold and we have to leave by August 15th, so I have spent the last two full days just moving wood out of one shed....the shop and another shed to go! There is no "rest" in any of this change for at least a couple of months! This is my packaging station, side by side delivers pieces, they are banded and then... Attachment: Packing 1.jpg ...loaded in the trailer. I already have a bunch of wood moved to the town I am working in and I have another order of wood arriving from India in a few days. Really....I am getting out of the tonewood business!! Attachment: Packing 2.jpg We are relocating to Edmonton, Alberta, from our 45 acre property to a city lot.....we are trying to find a place large enough for the wood and the tools that is close to the boys activities that doesn't cost 3/4 of million dollars. It's a tall order and I may be renting shop space.... Just thought I would share cause I needed a break! I am looking forward to spending more time building stringed things and learning more about the cnc so my youngest son can have some cool looking electrics as well. OK, back to work for me! Shane |

I can sympathize....I'm in the process of moving too. Must be a big relief to have the house sold anyway |

First change, then rest. Hopefully I'll be around next year. Should be about the time you're getting around to unpacking the stash. We can regrade using Mario's system over a whiskey ![]() Good luck with the move bud. Moving would be the perfect time to reflect upon one's needs and jettison all that unnecessary brick a brack that's accumulated over the years that we have no use for and aren't even sure how it came into our possession in the first place.................. if we could only get our wives on our side. ![]() I know I've said it before but the legacy of Lutz is a pretty amazing notch in the belt. Good luck with the move! I haven't had the fortune of a visit, but I'm sure that you'll like Edmonton. Its not Winnipeg, but it will do for living in a big city! |

Welcome to Alberta! Home of the free, the I-came-from-somewhere-else, the employed and the cold. |

Sounds a lot like me last August. Moved from an 80 acre farm to a .4 acre city lot. Fortunately the lot has a couple out buildings suitable for shop space once I finish insulating and getting heating and cooling inside. I'm still not done, it's a PIA but I think it will be great once done. I've got a temp repair shop going so that helps. Hopefully finish my wife's pottery studio this weekend then it's work work work till it's done hopefully by fall. Moving is never any fun especially if you have been in a place a long time but you get to get rid of a lot of junk you never use anyway ![]() |

Well I didn't move but I did build a small shop outside to house my power tools. Thank God I have heat and AC in it. Last winter I wasn't able to do anything because my inside shop is part of the house. So I have to keep dust to a bare minimum. Which is a good idea. In fact I'm working on dust collection in my new shop. I have a large shop vac which works somewhat but am improving on that. However Rome wasn't built in a day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I hate moving... best of luck! I'm stuck in a house-overhaul project. We had a bad wind/rain storm tear our roof half off and backed up the gutters into the house wrecking several ceilings and leaving us with a really great stink! Had to remove all the siding and a lot of insulation. Also had to replace a lot of ruined sheathing and have to replace most window sills and all the window and door trim. Oh... yeah, and I have to totally re-side the house as well. There seems no end to it! Oh...Did I mention the rotted wall sills and the carpenter ant damage??? <groan> |

Don, that totally sucks!! Wish I was closer I would give you a hand, that is a LOT of work! Best of luck as you move through that. Mikey! I think we are good. I just packed blackie and x-caliber the other day and look forward to the day I can get the boxes together for this sets, likely a few years off yet as I need to finish off a few guitars before I work on those sets. I will indeed be in touch. I am looking forward to setting up shop and being able to just build guitars without worrying about how many top sets I need to process and ship this week. Logan, we are in Edmonton right now looking for houses and should be moving here middle of next month. It will be winter/spring before the workspace is set up but by then I will be looking forward to networking with the Edmonton/Calgary luthiers. Thanks all for the encouragement! Shane |

Fellows I know your in beautiful country up there in the great northern wilds. I'm not jealous however but it sounds as y'all enjoy that cold weather. Me? I'm a born and bred California boy. Now living just outside Nashville Tennessee. So it gets cold here too. Last winter it got down to nine degrees F. Enjoy fellas. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
